My Bonnaroo has begun …

Technically, I started Bonnaroo two weeks ago when I began interviewing the Knoxville bands performing this year. But today, the first video is up and the 2008 Bonnaroo blog has officially launched.

Check out the Royal Bangs performing a recent gig at the Pilot Light, and stay tuned for a new band video every day this week.

I’ll be blogging again throughout Bonnaroo, so bookmark that and my Bonnaroo Twitter feed for round-the-clock updates.

Tennessee band plays Keith Urban concert

This past week, I saw Keith Urban in concert at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. In addition to sporting a Erik Ainge UT jersey, Urban had members of the University of Tennessee Drumline perform during his hit, ‘I Told You So.’

I recorded a minute of the performance on my Canon Elph and posted it with the News Sentinel review the following morning. Check it out now.

WDVX’s youngest DJ

Alex Leach, WDVX’s youngest DJ, began his career in bluegrass music just a few weeks before his 10th birthday. During a 2006 radio show, Leach shared how he started his career and what he likes best about bluegrass music and DJ’ing. Click here to watch the video.

NOTE: This is not a recent example of my work. This video was shot and edited as part of a larger Labor Day package in 2006.

East Tennessee Americana

Leonard Anderson

Recently, I’ve captured what I consider a true piece of Americana. Two weeks ago, I went to Jamestown, Tenn. to shoot video of Leonard Anderson, a guitar player, who picks and sings original songs out on his front porch. Check out what I’m talking about.
