Knoxville: Hire me!

Well not me. But those looking to hire qualified professionals in the Knoxville area have a new place to look: Knoxify.com.

The boys over at Knoxify are always doing good around the Knoxville community and their latest feature is no exception.

Knoxville was hit hard last week with a series of layoffs at several large, local employers. “Hire Me” is their way to fight back.

“The ‘Hire Me’ series is the least we can do to help those who have lost jobs in Knoxville.”

Simply send them your resume, which they’ll review and post on Knoxify along with resumes. The first one is already up.

I can’t think of a better way to help everyone who lost their jobs last week!

Horsing around

I’ve been involved in a number of interesting projects recently at work, including one about Hank Hepperly, a Maryville horse trainer who uses “natural horsemanship” to break horses.

A team of three of us followed Hank for several weeks, as he broke Dollar. The video from the first day is above. Here are links for the week 2 and week 3 videos.

Also, read the story by Morgan Simmons and see beautiful photos by Clay Owen.

Busy, busy, dreadfully busy

We’re busy, busy, dreadfully busy
You’ve no idea what we have to do.
Busy, busy, shockingly busy
Much, much too busy for you.

-Veggie Tales

I’m sure I wouldn’t be too busy for you, but 2008 has already been a hectic year. Some things I anticipated going in and others happened unexpectedly. On a side note, my friend has a 5-year-old, hence the inspirational song lyrics.

I’ve gotten behind again on updating my blog, so for starters, how about a candidate video? Or 34? Or 50? The number keeps growing and I lose track.

And here’s a white chicken chili recipe I’ve definitely got to try next time I attempt the dish. My flaming version from several weeks ago still has my throat fearing of my combo of chili powder and cumin.

And since I love chocolate and coffee, I took on Coffee and Chocolate, a new shop in downtown K-town.

I hate Knoxville drivers

And now a friend of mine has launched a new site, dedicated to the incompetence of drivers in this town. This should be fun!

Walking across America

George Martin, a retired New York Giant, is walking across the country from New York to San Francisco to raise money for 9-11 charities. Martin’s journey through Tennessee will take about 40 days. He walked through Knoxville in November.
