The Tennessee River has morphed into a bustling source of commerce, recreation and wildlife. This 4-day series was produced as a collaboration with a television partner, WBIR, to explore the river’s importance to our past and present.

The News Sentinel makes over a local person once a month. Two years ago, I began doing audio slide shows of the makeovers and built the Flash player. I collect my own audio and create the slide shows using News Sentinel photos. This months photos are by News Sentinel photographer Michael Patrick.
Bobbie Jean Crawford battled lung disease for more than 10 years. News Sentinel reporter Chandra Harris followed Bobbie’s last six months of life, documenting how faith and family kept her strong.
